Frequently asked questions
Do I also need PNG favicons?
Modern browsers accept a PNG via <link rel="icon" type="image/png">, and iOS wants a 180×180 'apple-touch-icon' PNG. Use the Resize tool for those; the .ico covers legacy browsers and Windows.
Why does my icon look blurry?
Start from a large, square source (256 px or more). Tiny sources upscaled into a favicon will look soft.
