Compress Image to 200 KB
Drop a photo and get a JPG of 200 KB or less. The tool tests different qualities and keeps the highest one that fits, so you do not have to guess with a slider. Nothing is uploaded.
How the 200 KB compressor works
Best quality that fits
Instead of one fixed quality, the tool tries several and keeps the highest one that stays under 200 KB. A simple photo may stay at 90% quality; a detailed one may need less.
Shrinks pixels only if it must
Quality is lowered first, down to 50%. If the image is still too large it is scaled down in small steps until it fits, so you do not lose more resolution than necessary.
Typical use at 200 KB
This size is commonly needed for document photos, product pictures, email attachments and 200 KB form limits.
Private by design
The search runs in your browser. IDs, signatures and documents are never uploaded to any server.
How to compress an image to 200 KB
- Set the target — it starts at 200 KB; change the number or pick 20, 50, 100, 200 or 500 KB.
- Upload — drop your image(s) onto the box or click to browse.
- Download — the result shows its dimensions, the quality used and the final size.
What we measured
We took a 4000 x 2667 camera-style photo (2.15 MB, a real photograph enlarged with sensor-style noise) and ran it through this tool.

Frequently asked questions
Will the file really be under 200 KB?
Yes. The limit is 200 x 1024 bytes, the way most upload forms count a kilobyte. If an image cannot be made that small without becoming unusable, the tool says so instead of pretending, and gives you the smallest it can do.
When is 200 KB the right target?
When you need a picture that still looks good on a laptop screen, such as a product photo, a scanned certificate or a profile banner, and the site allows a small but not tiny file.
What if my image is already under the limit?
A JPG that is already under your target is returned unchanged, so it is not degraded by being re-compressed.
What format is the output?
Always JPG, because it gives the smallest files for photos and is accepted by almost every upload form. Transparent areas of a PNG are filled with white.
Why is there a tip about dimensions?
200 KB is enough for good-looking photos at about 1000 to 1400 pixels wide, so this is the setting where quality stays high and only large originals need scaling.
Is this tool free?
Yes — every tool on ConvertPicto is completely free, with no account, no watermark and no file limits. The site is supported by ads.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. ConvertPicto runs entirely inside your browser using the Canvas API. Your files are read locally, processed on your device and never sent anywhere — we don't even have a server that could receive them.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. The site is fully responsive and works in any modern mobile browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge). Processing large images is naturally slower on a phone than on a laptop.
