Compress Image to 100 KB
Drop a photo and get a JPG of 100 KB or less. The tool tests different qualities and keeps the highest one that fits, so you do not have to guess with a slider. Nothing is uploaded.
How the 100 KB compressor works
Best quality that fits
Instead of one fixed quality, the tool tries several and keeps the highest one that stays under 100 KB. A simple photo may stay at 90% quality; a detailed one may need less.
Shrinks pixels only if it must
Quality is lowered first, down to 50%. If the image is still too large it is scaled down in small steps until it fits, so you do not lose more resolution than necessary.
Typical use at 100 KB
This size is commonly needed for job-portal profile photos, KYC documents and university or visa application uploads.
Private by design
The search runs in your browser. IDs, signatures and documents are never uploaded to any server.
How to compress an image to 100 KB
- Set the target — it starts at 100 KB; change the number or pick 20, 50, 100, 200 or 500 KB.
- Upload — drop your image(s) onto the box or click to browse.
- Download — the result shows its dimensions, the quality used and the final size.
What we measured
We took a 4000 x 2667 camera-style photo (2.15 MB, a real photograph enlarged with sensor-style noise) and ran it through this tool.

Frequently asked questions
Will the file really be under 100 KB?
Yes. The limit is 100 x 1024 bytes, the way most upload forms count a kilobyte. If an image cannot be made that small without becoming unusable, the tool says so instead of pretending, and gives you the smallest it can do.
Is 100 KB enough for a document scan?
For a single page of printed text, usually yes at around 1000 to 1500 pixels wide. For small print or a dense table, try 200 KB instead so the characters stay crisp.
What if my image is already under the limit?
A JPG that is already under your target is returned unchanged, so it is not degraded by being re-compressed.
What format is the output?
Always JPG, because it gives the smallest files for photos and is accepted by almost every upload form. Transparent areas of a PNG are filled with white.
Why is there a tip about dimensions?
100 KB leaves room for a clear face photo at a decent size. A phone photo usually has to shrink in pixels as well as quality, but the result remains sharp at screen size.
Is this tool free?
Yes — every tool on ConvertPicto is completely free, with no account, no watermark and no file limits. The site is supported by ads.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. ConvertPicto runs entirely inside your browser using the Canvas API. Your files are read locally, processed on your device and never sent anywhere — we don't even have a server that could receive them.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. The site is fully responsive and works in any modern mobile browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge). Processing large images is naturally slower on a phone than on a laptop.
